UCEED Exam Pattern 2018
- There will be one paper for 3 hours duration.
- The UCEED 2018 paper will be in English
- The UCEED 2018 will be a Computer Based Test (CBT).
- The question paper will carry a total of 300 marks.
- The paper will contain a total of 80 questions distributed among the six topics provided in the Syllabus of UCEED 2018.
- The Exam paper will consist of three sections.
- All three sections have Negative Marking.
Section A: – Numerical Answer Type (NAT) Questions
For section A, the answer is a number that requires to be entered using a virtual keyboard in the computer screen. No options will be shown for these questions. Each right answer will be awarded four marks and each incorrect answer will be awarded -1 mark.
Section B: – Multiple Select Questions (MSQ)
Each MSQ has one or more option as the right answer out of the 4 given options. Each right answer will be awarded 5 marks & each incorrect response will awarded -0.5 marks. There is no partial mark.
Section C: – Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ)
Each MCQ has 4 options out of which only 1 is the right answer. Each right answer will be awarded 3 marks & each incorrect answer will be awarded -1 mark.
UCEED Syllabus 2018
The entrance exam will have questions from the following 6 topics:
Visualization and Spatial Ability:-
Pictorial & diagrammatic questions to exam: understanding of transformation and/or manipulation of 2D shapes & 3D objects and their spatial relationship, knowledge of practical & everyday mechanical & scientific concepts.
Observation and Design Sensitivity:-
Ability to detect concealed properties in ordinary things, situations, people & events, and thinking critically about them. Applying attention to certain details, reasoning, analysing, inferring, classifying & predicting. Ability to discern subtle differences in visual properties & aesthetic outcomes.
Environmental and Social Awareness:-
General awareness of environmental factors such as population, climate, weather, pollution, natural recourses, water etc., and their implications on the design of products, infrastructure, images & environment. Awareness of social & cultural connection with design, history of the designed artefact and socially responsible & environmentally sustainable design responses.
Analytical and Logical Reasoning:-
Ability to look at information, be it qualitative/quantitative in nature & discern patterns within the information. Ability to weigh opinions, arguments or solutions against appropriate criteria. Ability to check for hidden bias & whether evidence & argument support conclusions. Data interpretation, brainteasers & patterns.
Language and Creativity:-
Ability to understand & use Standard English. Knowledge of English grammar, Reading comprehension. Ability to think creatively in terms of alternatives, ability to distinguish innovative options & think out of the box.
Design Thinking and Problem Solving:-
Ability to use visual analogies, signs and symbols, metaphors. Ability to understand complexity generates alternatives, identify problem, evaluate options & select solutions.
